We were lucky enough to be invited to the media night for Montalto in Town; a three-night event at Canvas House in South Melbourne
The evening not only gave people from Melbourne the chance to experience Montalto without the drive to the Peninsula, it also coincided with the renovation and re-launched menu in the dining room. This event was the first chance to try dishes from their new menu as well as a couple of old classics.
The new version of the dining room will be more relaxed than the previous incarnation and will focus on produce from their huge market garden, as we well as a new fire pit in the kitchen. We think the new menu makes a lot of sense, from our experience running hundreds of tours through the region, people want a more casual experience that showcases the best of Mornington Peninsula produce.
We’re excited to start bringing groups through. Check out what we enjoyed below.
Canvas House is an impressive new events space in South Melbourne
It was decked out with pieces from Montalto
The Menu we enjoyed
Smoked cabbage, stratcciatella, tarragon and dashi was our favourite dish of the night
Potato, soured cream, smoked eel, onion weed was a massive hit around the table
Elderberry, fermented raspberry, mountain pepper, whey was really delicious.
