Experience

The Peninsula’s first rum distillery is a real hit with guests, not only for the delicious and varied rums but for the excellent tasting experience. Although new on the block, these guys really know how to treat groups and give a fun tasting while also being really informative about rum, an often misunderstood spirit.

Rums

A core range of 4 rums, covers all the rum bases including:

  • Silver: a white rum
  • Navy: a high alcohol rum
  • Oaked: a oaked darker rum
  • Barbados: an imported darker rum

They also have a full range or cocktails (rum based and non-rum based), wines, beers, coffee and soft drinks available so if they can’t convert you, you have options.

Food

A limited menu includes their delicious toasties and cheese and meat platters which include cheeses from their neighbour, Boatshed Cheese (our fave)

Setting

In the happening Dromana Industrial Estate (they join neighbours Jetty Road Brewery, Bass and Flinders Distillery, Mr Little Cider, Peninsula Cider & Boatshed Cheese), the distillery door is in the actual distillery with barrels lining the wall. This gives it an authentic, industrial feel.

What we like

People are raving about the tasting experience here. Aa new comers they are there to impress and get people talking and they are doing just that. We hope they don’t lose their shine like many of the old players on the Peninsula.

What we don’t like

Rum is not for everyone, so it has been a bit of a tough sell for some groups, but if we can get them there, all groups have loved it. If possible a few of our hosts often make a detour on the day as they are keen to spread the love.
