Mock Cider: An Apple (Cider) A Day…

Address: 1103 Mornington Flinders Road, Red Hill VIC 3937

Varieties: Apple Cider, Apple Juice, Sparkling Apple Juice, Apple Cider Vinegar

This family owned and run apple orchard is as friendly and relaxed as they come. Mock Cider has a pure focus on creating apple beverages that are both delicious and bio-friendly. And you can enjoy the (quite literal) fruits of their environmentally sound labour while sitting out amongst their apple orchards or in their specially designed indoor cider lounge.

Guided tastings include 3 varieties of cider followed by a couple of sparkling juices with one of the Mock family. Did we mention they have daily sweet treats to try that are made with friends Johnny Ripe.

Tasting paddle of ciders and sparkling juice

Mock Cider is obviously all about the cider. They produce three biodynamic ciders: dry, classic, and sweet, all of which you’ll have a chance to try. Visitors are also invited to try their pear and apple juices made on site.

After you’ve finished tasting their wares, feel free to browse through their great selection of other apple products, like their sparkling apple juice and apple cider vinegar.

You’ve probably already guessed what food products Mock Cider is interested in – yep, apples. You can purchase their handpicked apples and other delicious apple products on-site, plus they branch out with nice freeze-dried strawberries available. They have also teamed up with friends at Johnny Ripe to produce daily apple inspired sweet treats. The apple pie is a must try.

Wall to ceiling apple products

Amongst the rows of impressive apple orchards, you’ll find a quaint but lovely lounge area to kick your feet up in. The slightly rugged bush setting has a true Australian charm, and creates a nice, secluded atmosphere for you to enjoy your refreshing beverages in. The cider lounge is in fact an old converted coolstore and has a fire going in cooler months to keep you warm.

What we like

Mock Cider certainly knows how to make a good cider (of course, or they’d be out of business pretty quickly) and when you pair this with good old fashioned friendly service it’s a great stop for anyone wanting a break from wine.

What we don’t like

With only a few ciders to offer (and 2 juices), tastings can be a bit short. But, hey, more time to spend relaxing and taking in the peace and quiet from their cider lounge.
