Paringa Estate: Award-Winning Wine And Two Chefs Hats
Review
Address: 44 Paringa Road, Red Hill South, VIC
Varieties: Pinot Gris, Viogner, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz

Experience
The award-winning Paringa Estate has a lot to offer in wines, and even more so in their wine tasting experience. Their tasting room is humble but distinctive, and with beautiful views looking down over the vineyards, it’s certainly something special.
One of the things that Paringa does well is hiring several cellar door staff, so that they can take a number of small groups for tastings at the same time. This sounds like a small thing, but when you’re trying to make the most of your day out on the Peninsula it can certainly make an impacting difference.

Wines
Paringa Estate has quite a number of awards under their belt, and with a few tastings it’s easy to see why. Their range is as vast as their award list, with a rarely spotted Viogner creating a point of difference over other Mornington Peninsula estates.
In terms of popularity, their Pinot and Chardonnay varieties receive a lot of attention, and will certainly enrapture yours in a tasting. Paringa also has a particularly soft spot for their Shiraz blends.
Food
With 2 chefs hats to it’s name Paringa restaurant is considered to be among the best (if not the best) dining venue on the Peninsula. Only catering to groups up to 8 the intimate venue and exquisite food create an unforgettable dining experience. A little too pricey to incorporate into most tours it is more of a ‘special occasion’ type thing but we definitely recommend you add it to your list of ‘must visits’ as you won’t be disappointed.

Setting
Proving size doesn’t always matter, their humble tasting room and restaurant makes for the perfect setting for you to forget about life’s monotony and be transported to a world of good wine and good times.
The tasting room sits above the winery and has windows looking down over the beautiful vineyards, providing a spectacular view to enjoy with your equally spectacular glass of red or white.

What we like
The fact that Paringa Estate offers such high quality wine is a big plus, but there’s more to it than that. One of the most interesting aspects of their cellar door experience is the fact that they often bring out two vintages to let groups taste and compare, which will both intrigue and delight lovers of wine.
What we don’t like
Although Paringa have made efforts to keep the flow of groups going with their multiple cellar door staff conducting various tastings at one time, it’s still an immensely popular estate. While they do their best, there is still often quite a queue to navigate before you get to the good stuff.
Oh an watch out for these guys, the guard geese can be grumpy.
