Yabby Lake: One Of The Biggest (And Best!)
Address: 86 – 112 Tuerong Road Tuerong VIC
Varieties: Shiraz, Sparkling, Rose, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Grenache Noir, Syrah, Vermentino, Pinot Gris
As one of the Mornington Peninsula’s largest producers, Yabby Lake has become an institute for the region. It helps that the chief winemaker is Tom Carson, who has more than 20 years’ experience creating cool climate beauties on the Peninsula.
Beyond the wine, the entire experience that you can enjoy at Yabby Lake is something spectacular. When the weather is right (or even when it’s not), the scenic setting comes alive, with vibrant vineyards and sculptures adorning the property.
The cellar door staff are also super knowledgeable, and will ensure a thorough exploration of their extensive range.
Yabby Lake celebrates quite an extensive range that goes between Peninsula classics like Chardonnay and Pinot, right through to more obscure yields like Grenache Noir and Vermentino. Their label is known for having quite a big taste, particularly their famous Heathcote Shiraz.
They also have a library of vintage blends available for purchase if you want to get your hands on something a little extra special.

Situated in a stunning mid-century modern building, their cellar door is small but cosily intimate. Outside you won’t want for space though, with a yard that stretches out and is set with an artistic motif thanks to a littering of sculptures.
All of this is of course set amongst stunning vineyards, making it the perfect escape on days when the weather is too good for wasting on staying indoors.
What we like
Yabby Lake certainly fits within the category of premium wines, but there isn’t anything overly pretentious about the estate. The experience they offer is plenty of fun, and there are still plenty of affordable options for those without a big budget. Their 6 packs in particular make for a great souvenir to remember your already-memorable visit by.
What we don’t like
A unique aspect about Yabby Lake is their emphasis on families, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing (especially for people with children in tow), but it doesn’t always make it the best possible experience for serious wine lovers.
