A fun day out with friends

“My friends and I decided on a stay-cation for Easter, and booked a Yarra Valley wine tour with Wine Compass. This was by far the highlight of the weekend, and great to explore our backyard rather than spend money abroad. Adam was fab, with heaps of knowledge and a relaxed attitude that complimented our day (and change of plans as we drank more wine). We’ll be back. Cheers!“

“Our group enjoy wine, but definitely not experts. The tour was great, because we had time to chat to the wine makers and learnt enough about the process, different types of wine and their characteristics without being overwhelmed with info. We left with a bunch of good bottles and new favourites for special occasions. Cellar door beats liquor store any day.”

The day

A great day out for this group who made the most of every minute. Lots of laughs and plenty of great wine and produce from the region.

• 10:15am: Pick-up: Lilydale
• 11:00am: Pimpernel Vineyards
  • Including a tour of the winery as it was vintage time
• 12:15pm: DiVino Ristorante @ Mandala
  • Loved their Italian/Mediterranean lunch
• 2:00pm: Mandala tasting
  • Generous tasting sitting outside with new cellar door manager
• 2:30pm: Yileena Park tasting
  • A real highlight sitting on the deck with owner Dianne giving a detailed tasting
  • Loved the smoked goods
  • Favourite wine of the day was their reserve Pinot Noir
• 3:30pm: Four Pillars gin paddle tasting
  • Finished the day with a gin paddle followed up by purchasing a round of Negronis
• 5:00pm: Drop-off Lilydale
• 5:45pm: Extra drop-off in Melbourne
