Zonzo: New Kids On The Vineyard

Varieties: Pinot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rose, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz
For those who have heard of or even visited Zonzo before, you may associate it as being the restaurant that shares land with the Train Trak vineyard. This was true up until recently; Zonzo has just gone from being the restaurant leasing from Train Trak to purchasing the entire estate.
This means there’s an exciting transition phase happening, with Zonzo currently creating their first ever vintage. In the meantime? You can still enjoy all this beautiful setting has to offer, and also sample the former delicious tipples Train Trak left behind.

Although things have changed hands, Train Trak is still on the cellar door until Zonzo have had time to produce something with their own label on it. That’s not bad news though; Train Trak were well-regarded around the Yarra Valley for their fantastic Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and, crowd-favourite, Moscato.
Keep an eye on this space and we’ll have updates for you as soon as Zonzo start pouring their own fresh vintages.
When a restaurant becomes so successful they can purchase an entire winery, you know they’re doing something right. Overlooking picturesque vines in a relaxed but bustling atmosphere, Zonzo serves up an Italian feast that engages all of the senses.
With a Wine Compass tour, you’ll get to enjoy a selection of antipasto, meats, and cheeses, followed by their famous wood-fired pizzas. And when we say famous, we’re not exaggerating. Zonzo uses gourmet ingredients, heaps of diverse flavours and generous serves to make sure you get the best pizza experience on the Yarra Valley (and beyond). They serve up plenty of flavours and the pizzas keep coming until everyone is full.
From humble beginnings (as a dairy and milking shed), Zonzo has been rebirthed into something truly special. Choose to take in the clean Yarra Valley air outside on the lawn or stay away from the elements with their indoor seating; either way you’ll be treated to spectacular views across the vines and beautifully furnished décor.
What we like
Have we mentioned how amazing the pizza is? We don’t want to use the words “life changing”, but…
There’s also the buzz brewing about Zonzo’s first vintage. Having new kids on the block (or at least, new wines on the block) is always a bit exciting, and we’re looking forward to seeing what this already established and successful restaurant can produce from their vineyards.
What we don’t like
With all of its good points, Zonzo certainly can attract a crowd. Although the busy hustle of a full restaurant can add electricity to the atmosphere, it can also mean a slightly noisy atmosphere on busy days.
